The Syslap Solutions: Migrating Data from MSSQL or Oracle to SAP HANA

Our teams already competent on data migration on Microsoft SQL and ORACLE environments, have the opportunity today to offer you the migration of your SAP EPM data to SAP HANA environments.

The prerequisites are the installation of a temporary SAP Data Services Platform (for data migration), the installation of a SAP HANA Server (SAPNOTE 2235581), the installation of SAP HANA Client and SAP HANA Studio or Cockpit.

Creation of a SAP HANA schema, as well as a source data preformatting will be necessary before the data migration. Data transformation will be realized with Data Services.

Once the data migration on SAP HANA is complete, a standardization of SAP HANA schema will be necessary (post formatting, indexes retrieval, deletion of columns used for the migration, etc…).

Regarding IPS and Analytics applications data, process consist in exports and imports via embedded SAP EPM tools (such as Import / Export User tool or Cube Designer). However, some limitations subsist on the Analytics brick.

When you encounter a connection or timeout problem on the Designer client with the following message:

“Logon failed with the following error code: Unknown error when opening existing solution.” or “Server was unable to process request. —> The operation has timed out”

and that the platform configuration is compliant, you can check for the presence of the following message in the Windows event viewer for IPS services:

“Unable to contact Server AdaptiveJobServer on machine to perform status notification.

In the IPS console, consulting the list of servers, you will find that the status of the server “AdaptativeJobServer” is blocked at “Initializing”.
It will be necessary to restart the SIA. If the problem is not resolved, you can try the following steps:

  • Stop the SIA
  • Empty the contents of the ‘Auditing” folder (default path ~\ SAP BusinessObjects \ SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0 \ Auditing \)
